‘Perth Folk and Roots Club is back in the heart of Perth with the support of Live Music Australia and Tattersalls Bowling and Recreation Club with Club supporters Jook Joint Band and Pas Serafino ‘, said Keith Anthonisz, President of the Perth Folk and Roots Club.

Jook Joint Band is a jug band at heart and they have been wowing audiences with their renditions of old time blues, skiffle and ragtime music in and around Western Australia for more than ten years. They are a five piece band with Larry George on lead guitar, vocals; Sean Low on harmonica, kazoo, vocals; Bill Johnstone on guitar, washboard, kazoo, ukulele, jug, vocals; Peter Birch on drums, percussion, vocals and Paul Alexander on keys. Their repertoire draws from an ever growing list of originals plus covers from the likes of Lead Belly, Memphis Jug Band, C.W. Stoneking, Jim Kweskin Jug Band and Blind Boy Fuller. They have released 4 CD’s, “Barking in Freo”, “Jook Joint Band”, “Jookbox Music” and their newest “Shake That Thing” in 2017. “Shake That Thing” reached #4 on the national community radio charts. In the past few years they have been playing at bars/pubs and community events such as such as The National Hotel, Swallow Bar, Rodney’s Bait ‘n Tackle, Clancy’s Fish Pub, Mukinbudin Spring Festival, Canning Show, Waroona Show, City of Fremantle ‘Heritage Festival’ and the Perth Folk & Roots Club. In addition, they have performed at music festivals including Blues at Bridgetown Festival, Fairbridge Festival, Boddington Music Festival, and The Perth Blues Club … to name a few.

Pas Serafino has been performing music over many years from cabaret (the Road Orchestra), pub rock (PTO), jug music (Jook Joint Band), acoustic blues (Bootleg Al) and a mix of all styles both with (Beats’Workin) and as a solo performer. He has played at the Perth Folk & Roots previously with the Jook Joint Band and John Howard (both long time supporters of the club) as well as with Bootleg Al and as a solo performer. He also has played around the Northam district, Blues at Bridgetown, the Perth Blues Club and various pubs around the metro area. While travelling through the US back in 2013 he also managed to get to perform in bars both in New Orleans and Jackson.

‘As always we are also looking for up and coming artists to do a few numbers for the audience’, Keith added.
