National War Animal Day is on Friday, February 24. However, the Friends of ANZAC Cottage will ommemorate this special day on Sunday, February 26 from 4pm to 6pm. On this day we invite the community to come together to pay their respects to the creatures that saved lives and provided much needed comfort for our servicemen and women as they endured horrific conditions during wartime.
On this day, guests can learn more about the war animals with an illustrated talk and photographic displays, children’s activities based on the theme will be available and there is the opportunity to acknowledge these brave animals by placing a purple poppy or wreath at the animal memorial in the front yard. Entry is free but donations are always welcome.
Guests are asked to bring a doggie treat to place in the care packages destined for retired working dogs.
