Perth Folk and Roots Club is starting a new music series in 2022 called Tattersalls Folk and Roots at the Tattersalls Bowling and Recreation Club with the inaugural show on Thursday 10th February 2022 with the support of the Tattersalls Bowling and Recreation Club and City of Perth. The performances are from 6pm to 9pm at Tattersalls Bowling and Recreation Club, 2 Plain Street, Perth. For starting this music series in central Perth, Perth Folk and Roots Club has Kerry B Ryan and Blues ConFusion. Events are free and meals are available through catering provided by The Kitchen on Cambridge, the in-house caterer who will be providing meals for the event.

‘Perth Folk and Roots Club is starting a new music series in the heart of Perth with the support of City of Perth and the Tattersalls Bowling and Recreation Club we will be celebrating the inaugural show with Kerry B Ryan and Blues ConFusion‘, said Keith Anthonisz, President of the Perth Folk and Roots Club.

Kerry B Ryan is a blues guitarist, born in North Queensland and now living in the hills outside Perth WA. Kerry started his working life as a stockman at 14, working on cattle stations in North Queensland and carrying a guitar with him from place to place, playing with bands from the age of 16. After moving to Western Australia, he started working in a local music store and played in blues bands for 15 years as well as doing the country circuit for 8 years. Kerry stopped travelling to raise a family and went back to handling horses and making saddlery. Returning to music in 2010 he released his first CD called Blues for My Sweety and has been playing at many venues around WA as well as over east. Kerry has been running regular blues shows at Ellington’s Jazz Club. Kerry’s 2nd CD Crazy Blues which has been getting airplay across Australia on blues programs and also airplay in the USA.

Blues ConFusion was formed in 2013. Phil Bourgault met Deb Gill at the Hills Blues Club and then Guy Slingerland joined on drums and Deb introduced bass player Peter Hackett. Blues ConFusion are a mix of Phil's original music and interpretations of blues, jazz and rock artists. They have recorded and released a self-titled CD of original music, which is available on most online music stores and on Spotify. Another album is in production, from which an EP called She’s not Listening anymore with Allan Lester on Sax has also been released on Spotify. Blues ConFusion has played the Blues in Bridgetown, the Ellington Jazz Club, The Perth Blues Club, the Duke of George, the Darlington Arts Festival, Mt Helena Whim Festival and the Toodyay Music Fest along with a number of other venues. Recent events include an NYE gig (2020/21) supporting Blue Manna with the legendary Dave Hole and bushfire fundraisers at the Glen Forrest sports club & the Parkerville tavern.

‘As always we are also looking for up and coming artists to do a few numbers for the audience’, Keith added.

Please note the Tattersalls Bowling and Recreation Club is hosting the Perth Folk and Roots Club as a free event for its members and guests with memberships offered at a very reasonable cost to Perth Folk and Roots Club supporters.
