‘Perth Folk and Roots Club is back in the heart of Perth with the support of City of Perth and the Tattersalls Bowling and Recreation Club with country bluesman Martin Lee Cropper and blues trio Turning Left‘, said Keith Anthonisz, President of the Perth Folk and Roots Club.

Martin Lee Cropper is a hill country blues musician originally from the hills south of Bridgetown. Martin has a love of 1920's & 30's country blues. Martin is influenced by some of the original greats of country blues including Charley Patton, Son House, Willie Brown, Bukka White, John Hurt, Mance Lipscomb, Tampa Red, Blind Blake, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Robert Johnson and Fred McDowell. He has authentic National Reso-Phonic resonator acoustic guitars that are handmade in the USA and are ideally suited for original 1920's style Mississippi Delta, Hill Country, East Coast & Texas Blues. Martin Lee Cropper has produced an album called Bridgetown Hill Country Blues with fourteen tracks and is active playing around Western Australia including recent shows for Rodney’s Bait & Tackle, The National Hotel, Nannup Brewing Co and the Margaret River Brewhouse.

Turning Left is a blues trio of established Perth musicians including Gordon German on guitar and vocals, who is ex for a number of acts in Perth including Harrison, Company B, Coldfront, Fearless Men With Facial Hair and Woodstock Experience that captured the original musical spirit of the 1969 festival. Steve Prescott is on bass and he is ex Firebird and also Slim Jim and the Phatts, one of the most successful cover bands in Perth. David Knox is on drums and is ex Volcanics, a well known Perth rock and roll band that plays stripped down raw rock ‘n’ roll with no hype.

‘As always we are also looking for up and coming artists to do a few numbers for the audience’, Keith added.
