Perth Folk and Roots Club is back in central Perth at Tattersalls Folk and Roots at the Tattersalls Bowling and Recreation Club on Thursday 10th March 2022 with the support of the Tattersalls Bowling and Recreation Club and City of Perth. The performances are from 6pm to 9pm at Tattersalls Bowling and Recreation Club, 2 Plain Street, Perth. For this event, Perth Folk and Roots Club has Dilip Parekh and Charlie Carters and the Jenny Gaunt Trio. Events are free and meals are available through catering provided by The Kitchen on Cambridge, the in-house caterer who will be providing meals for the event.

‘Perth Folk and Roots Club had a great inaugural show in the heart of Perth with the support of City of Perth and the Tattersalls Bowling and Recreation Club and we are now back with Dilip Parekh and Charlie Carters and the Jenny Gaunt Trio‘, said Keith Anthonisz, President of the Perth Folk and Roots Club.

Dilip Parekh is an Indian Irishman from Fremantle who is a singer/songwriter that has established himself as one of Western Australia’s finest songwriters. Dilip is also widely known as the front man for high energy band - Dilip n the Davs. With six recording releases since their formation in 2008, Dilip n the Davs are a Freo favourite playing reggae/ska/funk/grooves that get people moving. Their album titled “Together”, feature guests Nicky Bomba and House of Shem’s Teo Perkins, was well received and had airplay nationally and internationally. His solo album ‘Better Out Than In’ showcases his more reflective songs in solo mode including musical interpretations of poems by WB Yeats and Herbert Hoover, as well as his own contemporary eclectic folk material. Dilip is currently playing in Charlie Carters, a band featuring a variety of great musicians.

Jenny Gaunt is a songwriter and musician from Perth. She has a folk/alternative style has been described as “hauntingly beautiful”. Releasing her debut solo EP, her songs are carried by guitar, keys and cello also supported by bass, percussion, banjo, clarinet and glockenspiel. Jenny is a multi-instrumentalist with a social conscience. Personal, authentic, mixing the lighthearted with the melancholy with a focus on feeling. Jenny’s experience touring Europe, Australia and within the West Australian folk scene has well prepared her to step out solo. She mixes a proven love of storytelling with raw feeling to create her new songs. A road trip to the North of Western Australia led Jenny to write song ‘Complete’, about being connected to a land so red and a sky so blue it takes your breath away. The accompanying music video features footage from this journey.

‘As always we are also looking for up and coming artists to do a few numbers for the audience’, Keith added.

Please note the Tattersalls Bowling and Recreation Club is hosting the Perth Folk and Roots Club as a free event for its members and guests with memberships offered at a very reasonable cost to Perth Folk and Roots Club supporters.
