In a year so challenged by the travails of Covid-19 it’s wonderful to present a concert of positively uplifting and exciting music. Conducted by Margaret pride OAM, the Chorus will perform Rutter’s joyous Gloria for mixed chorus, brass & percussion, built on exciting jazz rhythms and infectious melodies.
Poulenc’s Gloria for soprano soloist, choir and full orchestra is colourful and unexpectedly melodic; its vibrant orchestral accompaniment adds beautiful harmonic piquancy to the choral line along with a compelling rhythmic drive and buoyancy.
As a foil for these contagiously exciting works the chamber choir will present Arvo Pärt’s exquisitely subdued and reflective Gloria from the Berliner Messe, and brilliant organist Alessandro Pittorino will demonstrate his virtuosic skills performing Poulenc’s Organ Concerto.
