In honour of World Animal Remembrance Month, on September 8 from 1pm to 4pm the Friends of ANZAC Cottage, in conjunction with the Australian War Animal Memorial Organisation, will conduct a series of activities along with a commemorative service to acknowledge the crucial role that animals played in wartime and to pay homage to these humble creatures. There will be a workshop and storytime for children, a talk on the animals at war and, excitingly a visit from some of the animals that were so important during wartime: The Australian 10th Light Horse Rockingham Troop will bring some horses, a donkey and a dog and the United Districts Racing Pigeon Club will be bringing some pigeons along.
Tickets include afternoon tea. For more information, please call Anne Chapple on 0411 44 55 82 or email chapan@highway1.com.au or visit our website.
